We have been running our weekly Farmers' Market at St. Mark's Church opposite the Oval station for the past two years. It has proved a very popular market, not least because there is nothing of its nature in the area or even many local shops for residents. It has a very social feel, with friends meeting at our designated outdoor cafe with Fairtrade tea and coffee on offer. It is also a very popular area for families and dog walkers. Video of this market below courtesy of the 'onion bag blogger'... many thanks to him for letting us use it! For the not so computer literate (like us!) click on the four arrowed icon on the bottom right of the video to play and press the esc key to get back to this page. Produce available at this market every week includes fruit & vegetables from Kent, pressed fruit juices, local rare breed pork & sausages, organic bread, handmade pies, traditionally made cheese, cakes & biscuits, salt marsh reared beef & lamb, relishes & sauces, freshly marinated olives and much, much more. Ready to eat food on offer includes barbequed sausages, delicious toasties made with Somerset cheddar cheese and handmade crepes. We also have local Arts & Crafts at this market from time to time as well as Fairtrade clothing. For more information about 'Cakehole', who attend Oval every week and bake the most delicious, handmade cakes, please go to our links page. Also, thanks to Harriet Brown for a mention of this market on her blog. Go to http://www.bitemeblog.com/journal/2008/1/25 /oval-farmers-market.html to see what she thinks! next markets...
